Datuk Michael Tang is the founder and CEO of Mettiz Capital Group, an investment firm with particular focus on private equity and alternative investments in both private and public markets across the region.

Datuk Michael commenced his career as a corporate lawyer in 1996 and was previously an equity partner of Shearn Delamore & Co, one of the oldest and largest law firms in Malaysia. His area of practice was mergers and acquisitions and capital markets. He acted as counsel to leading global conglomerates and investment banks in numerous landmark local and cross border transactions. He was listed as a leading corporate and mergers and acquisitions practitioner in the UK publication, The World’s Leading Lawyers by Chambers Global.

He is a Co-Founder of CVSKL, a private heart and vascular hospital, Cengild, a private gastro and liver medical centre and Storio, a developer of advanced automated warehouses, amongst others.

He was formerly on the Boards of Mid Valley Capital Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Bursa Malaysia listed real estate business IGB Corporation Berhad, Tropicana Corporation Berhad, a Bursa Malaysia listed real estate developer, Tune Money Capital Sdn Bhd, a Securities Commission Capital Markets Services license holder, Teknologi Tenaga Perlis Consortium Sdn Bhd, a 650 MW independent power producer, and KFC Holdings (Malaysia) Berhad, a Bursa Malaysia listed food and beverage business, Malene Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd, a Bank Negara Malaysia licensed insurance broker, amongst others.

Beyond the business sphere, he is the Treasurer of the Badminton Association of Malaysia, a member of the Trust Management Committee of the Olympic Council of Malaysia and a member of the Commercialisation Committee of the National Sports Council. He was also the founder and trustee of 1Malaysia Community Alliance Foundation, a charitable foundation dedicated to crisis relief and community services, a founder of the not for profit Gold Coast Dharma Realm in Australia, and a founding governor of Lasallian St. Joseph’s Institution International School Malaysia, and an investment committee member of Koperasi Jayadiri, an education loans and micro credit provider to the underprivileged, as well as disciplinary committee member of the Royal Selangor Golf Club, amongst others.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London in 1994 and was admitted as a Barrister-at-Law of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, London in 1995 and as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1996.
